Is Hair Transplant Surgery Painful?
One of the most common questions patients ask is whether a hair transplant is painful. Most patients report that the procedure is much more comfortable than they expected. Local anesthesia is used to numb both the donor and recipient areas, allowing the procedure to be performed with minimal discomfort.
Will I Feel Pain During the Procedure?
You may experience brief discomfort during the administration of the local anesthetic, but once the scalp is numb, most patients feel little to no pain during the remainder of the procedure. Many patients watch movies, listen to music, or relax throughout the surgery.
What About After Surgery?
Some mild soreness, tightness, or tenderness is normal during the first few days after surgery. These symptoms are usually temporary and can typically be managed by following your surgeon's post-operative instructions and taking any recommended medications.
